Tatcha: Gorgeous Packaging, Solid Products, Debatable Price Tag

The Water Cream is Tatcha's bestseller, and we get why. It's marketed as an oil-free, lightweight moisturizer that hydrates without feeling heavy. And it does exactly that.

The texture is somewhere between a gel and a mousse — it feels almost weightless but doesn't dry down matte. It leaves your skin looking dewy without being greasy, which is hard to pull off.

It layers well under makeup and didn't clog our pores, which is rare for anything with visible glow. The formula includes Japanese botanicals like wild rose and leopard lily, which sound fancy but probably aren't doing much. Still, the end result is a moisturizer that hydrates well and doesn't irritate.

Is it worth $70? If you want a lightweight moisturizer that feels luxurious and works well under makeup, yeah, probably. If you're on a budget, you can find similar texture and hydration for way less.

This is the one that gets all the Instagram love. It's thick, it's purple, and it leaves your skin looking glassy and glowy.

But it's not for oily or acne-prone skin. It's rich — really rich. Even on our normal-to-dry skin, we only used it at night or on days when we weren't wearing makeup. If you have oily skin, this will probably be too much.

The Rice Polish is a powder-to-foam exfoliant. You mix it with water in your hands and it turns into a creamy cleanser with a gentle scrub.

It feels luxurious, and the ingredients are solid — rice bran, papaya enzymes, nothing harsh. But here's the thing: it's more about the experience than the results.

It's gentle, which is great if you have sensitive skin or you're looking for a soft exfoliant. But if you want noticeable exfoliation or that immediate glow, you'll probably be underwhelmed. At this price point, it's hard to justify unless you really value the ritual.

Packaging and experience. Everything about Tatcha feels intentional — from the textures to the subtle spa-like scents to the way the products layer. It makes your routine feel like a moment instead of a chore.

But if you're on a tighter budget or you care more about active ingredients than aesthetics, you can find comparable (or better) performance for less money.
