Soybean Peroxidase
Soybean Peroxidase
Soybean Peroxidase is a plant-derived heme enzyme isolated from soybean seed coat (Glycine max). In cosmetics it is used mainly as an antioxidant/skin-conditioning enzyme that helps catalyze oxidation-reduction reactions in formulation systems. It is a proteinaceous ingredient rather than an emollient or exfoliant, so its primary role is functional stabilization or bioactivity support rather than direct texture alteration.

Risks & Warnings
Main concern is potential sensitization/allergy because it is a soy-derived protein enzyme. As with other enzymes, irritation risk is generally low in finished cosmetics but may increase in products with incompatible oxidizers or in very sensitive skin. Individuals with soy allergy may prefer avoidance or patch testing. Data on pregnancy-specific risk are limited.
