Orbignya Oleifera (Babassu) Seed Oil
Orbignya Oleifera (Babassu) Seed Oil
Babassu oil is a fixed plant oil obtained from the seeds of the babassu palm. It is composed largely of triglycerides rich in lauric, myristic, oleic, and other fatty acids, giving it a lightweight, emollient feel compared with many heavier botanical oils. In skincare it is used primarily as a moisturizer, slip agent, and barrier-supportive emollient in creams, balms, cleansers, hair products, and body care.

Risks & Warnings
Generally low-risk in topical cosmetics, but any plant oil can cause contact allergy in rare cases. It may feel occlusive for very oily or acne-prone users and can be problematic for people who are sensitive to richer oils. Because it is a lipid-rich oil, it can contribute to clogged pores in some users depending on overall formula and skin type.
