Glycerth-26
Glycerth-26
Glycereth-26 is a high-ethoxylate glycerin derivative (PEG ether of glycerin) used primarily as a humectant, solvent, and skin-conditioning agent. It helps bind water, improve slip, and support product feel in leave-on and rinse-off formulations. CIR reports it as a low-odor, water-soluble ingredient with very low log Kow, consistent with low bioaccumulation potential.

Risks & Warnings
Generally low-risk in cosmetic use, but as a PEG-ethoxylated ingredient it may be irritating to very sensitive or compromised skin at higher concentrations or in poorly formulated products. Potential trace impurity concerns from manufacturing include 1,4-dioxane and ethylene oxide, which should be controlled to acceptable limits. Eye exposure may cause transient irritation in concentrated forms.
