Risks & Warnings
Higher risk of irritation and allergic sensitization than non-fragrant extracts. Citrus peel oils may contain phototoxic furanocoumarins such as 5-MOP; CIR concluded citrus-derived peel oils are safe only when finished skin-contact products do not exceed 15 ppm 5-MOP and are non-sensitizing/non-irritating. Avoid direct sun exposure after leave-on use if the formula has not been specifically phototoxicity-controlled. ([cir-safety.org](https://www.cir-safety.org/sites/default/files/citrus_1.pdf))
