Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract
Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract
Botanical extract derived from the fruit of Citrus paradisi (grapefruit). In cosmetics it is primarily used as a skin-conditioning, antioxidant, and fragrance-associated botanical ingredient. Citrus fruit-derived ingredients are also used for a mild brightening/refreshing marketing effect, but the extract itself is not a true exfoliating acid. Composition varies widely by extraction method and may include organic acids, flavonoids, sugars, and trace aromatic constituents.

Risks & Warnings
May cause irritation or sensitization in reactive skin, especially if the extract contains aromatic citrus constituents. Citrus-derived ingredients can raise photosensitivity concerns when furocoumarins are present, although fruit extracts are generally less phototoxic than peel oils. Botanical variability means allergen content and efficacy can vary by supplier and extraction solvent.
